2 silkscreen prints from an edition of 3. 40 x 60 cm acrylic, screen-print on paper.
The recurring use of Marx as a motif in my recent work attempts to lightheartedly confront the notion of commodity fetish and consumer culture from multiple perspectives. By repeatedly screen-printing (a technique born from industrial manufacturing) Marx alongside fashionable paisley/tattoo designs I am demystifying the symbol as a political subject in the eyes of the mainstream. The works bear a similar irony to the commercialized mass production of Che Guevara T-shirts through the 1960’s.
